History of Gorson Bugyal

gorson bugyal trek

Gorson Bugyal's history is old and tied to the local culture and myths of Uttarakhand. The word “Bugyal” means high meadow, and these fields have been key for the local people for years. Gorson Bugyal and other fields were used by herders and townsfolk as grass places in summer. The rich grass helped sheep, goats, and cows, making up a big part of the local farm life. Beyond this, Gorson Bugyal has cultural and holy ties. The area has many tales linked to Hindu tales. Uttarakhand, known as the Land of the Gods, was always seen as holy, with fields often used for wise men to think and pray. Stories say fields like Gorson were not just for grass but also holy places where gods were or felt. In British times, the area attracted explorers and those who love nature, who wrote about the beauty and rich life in fields like Gorson.

Later, these fields became known not just for their use but also for their sight. Auli was turned into a ski place, making Gorson Bugyal more liked for trekking due to its location and beauty. Today, Gorson Bugyal is big for green travel and fun travel. There is also work to keep the weak land of these fields safe, as they can be easily hurt by too much herding, cutting down trees, and unwatched travel. The local government and people push for safe walking ways to help Gorson Bugyal keep getting better as a natural spot. Today, the history of Gorson Bugyal is not just about its old uses but also about trekking, mountain fun, and travel tied to culture. It shows how people, nature, and holy things can live well together. Walking this big field is like walking into a living history where old tales, myths, and new fun come together well.
