
The Sri Chamundeshwari temple, situated on top of the Chamundi hills, is one of the most important shrines in Karnataka. It is dedicated to the goddess Chamundeshwari, who is considered to be the guardian deity of Mysuru. A towering gopuram in the Dravadian style can be seen, covered with carvings and sculptures, and pilgrims visit the temple in large numbers throughout the year from various parts of the country. One gets a splendid view of Mysuru city from the top of the hill.
